PROTESTERS opposing proposals to demolish an apartment block have stormed an Edinburgh Council meeting.

The live feed from the local authority’s Housing Committee was quickly cut off after demonstrators interrupted proceedings on Tuesday morning.

They were opposing plans to demolish Westfield Court, a residential block of 94 flats – 32 council-owned and 62 privately-owned, which were due to be considered by councillors.

Residents say they have been “threatened” with a repair bill of £270,000 per flat if they do not agree to demolition of their homes.
