A murder investigation is underway following the death of a university student in Bristol. Vijay Kumar, aged 30, was discovered with serious injuries on Barbourne Road in Worcester at approximately 4.15am on Tuesday, November 25. He was later pronounced dead in hospital later that day. West Mercia Police have arrested five men on suspicion of murder, although they have since been released on bail. A sixth man was also arrested but has been released without any further action. Vijay's family released a heartfelt statement, describing him as someone who "filled our lives with warmth". They expressed their grief, stating, "Vijay brought energy, joy and laughter and filled our lives with warmth. Life was never dull with him around." They highlighted his caring nature, saying, "Behind all his gestures was a heart that cared deeply for his family and friends." Detective Chief Inspector Lee Holehouse provided an update on the investigation, stating, "Over the course of the last few days, my team have been conducting extensive lines of enquiries to ascertain what happened on Tuesday morning and what led to a man losing his life." He assured the community that police presence on Barbourne Road would continue over the weekend to gather further evidence. He added, "I continue to appeal to anyone who has any information that would help with our enquiries to please come forward, however insignificant you feel it may be; it could be a vital piece of information." The police investigation remains ongoing as they seek to uncover the circumstances surrounding Vijay Kumar's tragic death.
