APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - Appleton city officials are asking for the public’s help to rename one of its parks.

It’s because of the update to Memorial Park to now call it Veterans Memorial Park.

The city already has a Veterans Park. It’s on S. Memorial Drive.

To avoid confusion, Appleton Parks and Recreation took to Facebook to ask people to submit ideas for names via an online form.

If you’re interested in submitting a suggestion, there are a number of rules, including that all suggestions must include an explanation why you’re proposing that particular name.

The city is accepting suggestions through the end of January.

The city council will select the old Veterans Park’s final name next spring.
