UK households are being handed new £250 Cost of Living payments - "for the Christmas holidays". Greenwich Council has teamed up with the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) and Labour Party government, for the Household Support Grant.

The local authority says: "We are supporting schemes from April 2025 to March 2026. This ensures our residents stay warm, well and safe." It is "sending payments to residents we know are particularly vulnerable to financial hardship", it adds.

You'll qualify for a payment if your child is already claiming means-tested free school meals in Royal Greenwich schools or a low-income child under 5 attending Royal Greenwich children's centres or childcare settings.
