NORMAL ( 25News Now ) - The person in charge of day-to-day operations for Normal’s town government is receiving a pay raise that lifts her base salary above what her counterparts make in Peoria and Bloomington.

The Normal Town Council voted 4-1 Monday night to extend City Manager Pam Reece’s contract until 2028, and raise her annual base salary by almost 4.9%, or $11,000, to $237,000.

Kathleen Lorenz voted no, saying it’s unfair that other town employees have been given smaller cost-of-living raises of 3% or 4%.

“I just believe that 4.8% is excessive for the CEO of an organization to have such a greater amount than the rest of the organization,” said Lorenz.

Council members Karyn Smith and Scott Preston were absent for Monday’s vote.
