Rio Ferdinand has admitted he expected Liverpool to turn to Steven Gerrard as interim manager and even told the Reds legend to anticipate a call from his former club as the pressure mounted on head coach Arne Slot. The reigning Premier League champions returned to winning ways on Sunday as they won 2-0 at West Ham United.
The victory saw them move up to eighth in the Premier League table and narrow the gap on the top four to just three points. However, before the trip to the capital, Liverpool had lost nine of their previous 12 matches.
Such a run included successive heavy defeats to Manchester City, Nottingham Fores
