The cricketing world is mourning the loss of England legend Robin Smith, who has passed away at the age of 62.

Smith, who represented England in 62 test matches before retiring from international cricket in 1996, died overnight in Australia. His passing was announced by his friend and former Hampshire teammate Kevan James, 64, on BBC Radio Solent Sport, where he struggled to contain his emotions.

In a heartfelt tribute on Tuesday morning, James said: "Oh gosh it's been horrible unfortunately. It was happening as I was reading out some of the sports news.
