Four people were arrested on prostitution-related charges following a slew of complaints from community members in Hudson County, authorities said.

Detectives with the West New York Police Department began an investigation after community members described frequent behavior consistent with prostitution on the 5200 block of Bergenline Avenue, local police said.

Officers with the Anti-Crime Unit responded to the complaints and made four arrests, according to the report.

  • Miriam Perez-Bailon, 36, of Queens, was charged with prostitution.
  • Karen Correa, 32, of Newark, was charged with prostitution.
  • Noe Gigales, 48, of North Bergen, was charged with promoting prostitution and maintaining a nuisance.
  • Luis Ernesto Martinez-Cerritos, 53, of West New York, was charged with promoting prostitution and maintaining a nuisance.

“Our residents play a critical role in helping us keep neighborhoods safe. We take every community concern seriously, and these arrests demonstrate our department’s commitment to responding swiftly and effectively. We will continue to work closely with the public to address quality of life issues and ensure that illegal activity has no place in our town,” Police Director Henry Codina said in a statement.

Police said all four defendants were transported to the West New York Police Department for processing and released on summonses pending a court appearance. The investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.
