A 45-year-old man is at large after he robbed a woman at gunpoint while she dropped her child off at a preschool in South Brunswick on Monday, Dec. 1, authorities said.
At 9:02 a.m., a woman reported being robbed in the parking lot of The Sapling School on Route 27, South Brunswick police said. The woman was dropping off her child when Nathan Edwards Simpson pulled out a handgun and demanded her phone, police said.
Simpson took the phone and ran through the parking lot, police said. The victim and Simpson are known to each other, police said.
Nearby schools were put in a shelter in a place as police established a perimeter, tracking Simpson to Nassau Square on Route 27, but were unable to locate him, officers said.
Simpson is 6'2", 200 lbs. with green eyes and black hair, police said. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue pants, police said. He also goes by the name Bryan Spinelli, police said.
He is charged with armed robbery, endangering the welfare of a juvenile, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, criminal restraint, terroristic threats, and theft, police said.
