NEW YORK — The Northeast Public Health Collaborative on Monday reaffirmed its recommendation that all newborns receive a hepatitis B vaccine dose within 24 hours of birth. Their statement was shared by the New York State Department of Health.
The Northeast Public Health Collaborative said newborns born to birth parents who test positive for hepatitis B or whose status is unknown should receive the vaccine within 12 hours. It also recommends that all children complete the full vaccination series within 18 months.
