GENESEE COUNTY, MI – Satellite district courtrooms in Flushing and Mt. Morris will permanently close this week.
After Dec. 3, Flushing and Mt. Morris residents will have to travel to downtown Flint for traffic tickets and other district court matters.
The courtrooms were scheduled to close this year after the Genesee County Board of Commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding with local judges in April.
The plan calls for the eventual closure of six satellite courts that have operated for decades in Burton, Davison, Fenton, Flushing, Grand Blanc and Mt. Morris.
Officials hope to one day consolidate the local courts with a single new district court facility in Flint.
The county currently operates a central district court in the McCree Courts and Human Services building dow
