Man dead after hit-and-run in downtown Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man was killed in a hit-and-run in downtown Phoenix early Tuesday morning.

Just after 12:15 a.m., first responders were dispatched to the area of 7th Avenue and Polk Street , just north of Van Buren Street, on reports of a pedestrian hit.

When officers arrived, they found a man who was seriously hurt, according to the Phoenix Police Department. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

The vehicle that hit him left before officers arrived. The investigation is ongoing.
