STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island will experience mostly rain Tuesday as a coastal storm passes through the region. The National Weather Service forecasts precipitation beginning by mid-morning, with temperatures rising above freezing.

Rain is expected to start between 8 and 10 a.m. on Tuesday, continuing through the evening. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will climb to the upper 30s to lower 40s across the New York City metro area, keeping precipitation as rain rather than snow for Staten Island. Winds will increase Tuesday afternoon and night, with northwest winds 15-25 mph and gusts up to 35 mph possible.
