Priscilla Mahand is heartbroken, but she isn’t angry at all.
The grieving Jefferson County mother just wants to know how her son – her only child – ended up fatally shot by Birmingham police the day after Thanksgiving.
“Whether he was right, whether he was wrong, either way it’s not going to bring him back,” Mahand said. “But I just want that peace for me because that’s my baby.”
Jamal D’Angelo Williams , a 26-year-old beloved son, father of two and devoted McDonald’s employee, died early Saturday at UAB Hospital.
His death came less than an hour after he was shot one time by an officer who responded to a Shot Spotter call at the Rev. Dr. Morrell Todd Homes public housing complex in the Kingston community.
