LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Former Lincoln Mayor Coleen Seng died on Monday, according to current Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird.
Gaylor Baird posted to social media that “our city now mourns the loss of a remarkable public servant, neighbor, and friend.”
Seng served on the Lincoln City Council from 1987 to 2003, representing the northeast district. As a council member, she represented the city on many boards, commissions and task forces.
She was elected Lincoln’s 50th mayor on May 6, 2003, and was sworn in May 19.
According to the city’s website, Seng was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, but grew up in Fremont, Nebraska, where her parents owned a welding, machine shop and repair business.
Seng lived, worked and raised a family in Lincoln for more than 40 years. She and her late husband,
