YOUNGSTOWN Youngstown police collected 43 shell casings early Tuesday after gunfire struck a home on Arden Boulevard while a 4-year-old child was inside.
Officers responded to the area around 12:50 a.m. for reports of shots being fired. While police were on their way, a resident called 911 to report their house had been hit. Upon arrival, investigators found bullet holes in the front door and the area of a second-floor bedroom.
Police recovered 14 casings from a 7.62-caliber weapon and 29 casings from a 9mm weapon outside the residence.
The homeowner, her adult son and daughter, and her 4-year-old grandson were inside the home during the incident. The homeowner told police she believed her son was the reason the shooting occurred.
