Jim Montgomery and Jordan Binnington had words with one another after the Blues coach pulled the goalie in the first period against the Anaheim Ducks.

Binnington allowed two goals on five shots before Montgomery made the quick hook for Joel Hofer.

Montgomery and Binnington exchanged words as the latter made his way off the ice and to the dressing room. After the game, Montgomery downplayed the exchange.

“He walked off the ice, he said, ‘I love you’ I said, ‘I love you, too,” the coach told reporters . “We’re both competitors, and at the end of the period, he waited for me, we apologized and we moved on. It’s over and done with.”

The veteran goalie returned to the bench for the second and third periods.
