RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - U.S. Sen. Mark Warner announced his bid for re-election on Tuesday.
“If you think we’ve seen massive technological innovations in the last two decades, just wait until you see what’s coming next,” said Warner, a Democrate. “America has never been afraid of the future, and we don’t need to start now.”
Warner, 70, won his first bid for U.S. Senate in 2008. He served as Virginia’s governor from 2002 to 2006.
According to Virginia Public Access Project , three other Democrats have stated their intention to run for the Senate seat: Jason Reynolds, Lorita Daniels, and Gregory Eichelberger.
Three Republicans have also said they’re running: Kim Farington, Bryce Reeves, and David Williams.
Virginia will hold a primary on June 16. The general election is Nov. 3.
