The Detroit Lions are currently on the outside looking in at the 2025 NFL playoff picture and are in danger of falling out of the top 10 altogether among the league’s best teams.

Following a 31–24 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving, the Lions -- still viewed as a top-tier team by some -- have slipped as low as No. 15 in this week’s NFL power rankings roundup.

Much of this week’s criticism points to a familiar theme that has surfaced whenever the Lions lose: the departure of former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, now the head coach of the Chicago Bears, is still viewed as a significant setback for Detroit.

Still, some writers have praised Lions coach Dan Campbell for taking over the playcalling, framing it as a move that could help Detroit rediscover its offensive identity.
