Upcoming works at a level crossing are being extended.

Network Rail will work on the Melton level crossing from Friday, but has announced that works will now finish by 8am on Sunday rather than the original deadline of 6pm on Saturday.

The improvement works are taking place following feedback from locals about the level crossing surface in Melton.

Further improvements will be made, including adjustments to the newly installed drainage and road surface levels.

A Network Rail spokesman said: "We appreciate that this extension may cause inconvenience, particularly for local businesses, and we apologise for the short notice."
