ROSWELL, Ga. ( WANF /Gray News) — A man was bitten on the face and hands by a raccoon he tried to save this weekend.
It later tested positive for rabies, according to the Chattahoochee Nature Center.
The man found the injured raccoon and attempted to bring it to the nature center himself. He wrapped the raccoon in his coat and held it against his chest as he drove for over an hour, the nature center said.
During the drive, the raccoon bit the man on his face and hands, so he went home to wrap the raccoon in a blanket with duct tape before driving back to the nature center.
When the man arrived at the nature center, the camp director alerted the Wildlife Clinic. Staff met him in the parking lot and put the raccoon in a kennel.
Staff encouraged the man to go to the hospital for treatm
