A man has been charged with second-degree murder after a 25-year-old was shot dead in Winnipeg earlier this year.

Melvin Catcheway, a member of Lake St. Martin First Nation , was taken to hospital in critical condition after he was found unresponsive on Langside Street, between Sargent and Notre Dame avenues, on Aug. 29, Winnipeg police previously said.

Investigators allege two men who knew each other were involved in an altercation and Catcheway was shot. He later died from his injuries.
