ANN ARBOR — A gigantic ring wasn’t the only prize Yaxel Lendeborg earned for his performance on the basketball court last week. The Michigan forward was named the Big Ten’s player of the week Monday.
Lendeborg was electric over three games in the Players Era Championship in Las Vegas . He averaged 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, two steals and 1.3 blocks while shooting 63% from the field and 44% from 3.
Michigan played Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, beating San Diego State, Auburn and Gonzaga by a combined 110 points to improve to 7-0. No player outscored Lendeborg in any of the games. He had multiple highlight-reel dunks in addition to his effective shooting, passing and defense. He was named the event’s MVP, which earned him an oversized, shiny ring .
