A tractor-trailer hauling ice cream flipped and shut down a stretch of Route 22/322 during a heavy snowstorm on Tuesday, Dec. 2, according to PennDOT.
The crash happened in the eastbound lanes near Exit 34 in Howe Township (Perry County) around 9:40 a.m., leaving the cab pointing almost straight up, emergency dispatchers said at 9:45 a.m. The tractor-trailer was the only vehicle involved, and crews have been working to clear the wreck throughout the morning, officials detailed.
All eastbound and westbound lanes were initially blocked, and Route 22/322 eastbound remains closed between the Route 34/Newport/New Bloomfield exit and a point west of the Watts exit, PennDOT said. The estimated reopening time has not been released.
The truck was carrying ice cream, Pennsylvania State Police confirmed to PennDOT. It is unclear if anyone was injured in the crash.
State police are investigating.
