REGIS Le Bris believes Sunderland have the depth to cope with the absence of seven players during the African Cup of Nations - but is still thrilled his departing stars won't be heading off until after the Wear-Tyne derby.

The high-flying Black Cats are set to be without the influential Reinildo and fellow defender Arthur Masuaku, midfield pair Noah Sadiki and Habib Diarra and wingers Bertrand Traore, Chemsdine Talbi and Simon Adingra.

Several of those have played starring roles in Sunderland's outstanding start to the Premier League season so their absence will obviously come as a blow.

But the Black Cats have known about and have been preparing for AFCON since the summer transfer window, and Le Bris believes those on the fringes are ready to grasp their opportunity.
