A Suffolk hospital has unveiled a new service to make blood tests more comfortable for more than 15,000 patients seen every month.

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (WSFT) has introduced reusable tourniquets in its phlebotomy services.

The silicone devices, which can be sanitised and reused up to 10,000 times, will help the team reduce waste and save tens of thousands of pounds.

Dawn Honour, phlebotomy supervisor at WSFT, suggested the idea.

She said: "I was at an appointment with my mother at another Trust and I saw a reusable tourniquet used to insert a cannula.

"I thought this was an excellent idea that we could introduce for our phlebotomy teams.
