LACOMBE, La. —
A Lacombe woman was arrested on multiple charges of animal cruelty.
Kathleen Leatherman, 57, was arrested on four counts of simple animal cruelty and four counts of aggravated animal cruelty. Advertisement
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, accompanied by the St. Tammany Parish Animal Control, responded to Leatherman's residence in the 60000 block of S. Pontchartrain Drive in Lacombe due to a report of a dog not being properly cared for.
When deputies arrived at the residence, they found four malnourished dogs and two additional dogs suffering from significant injuries.
The six dogs were taken into the custody of St. Tammany Parish Animal Control.
Deputies described the house as being in deplorable condition, and the bodies of two dead dogs were found inside.
