Millions of shoppers are looking for deals on holiday gifts, but experts warn consumers to stay alert for scams and misleading advertising, whether shopping online or in stores.

Milvionne Chery with WalletHub shared a warning with consumers about the many ways criminals will try and take their money.

“So, scammers, they’re gonna take advantage of the fact that you’re willing to spend money,” Chery shared.

The Better Business Bureau said online shoppers should watch for false advertising and fake websites designed to look legitimate. Shoppers should verify that business names are spelled correctly and real contact information is listed on websites.
