A deadly single-vehicle crash shut down a stretch of Route 16 during Tuesday’s snowstorm in Hamiltonban Township, authorities announced on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
The crash happened along Waynesboro Pike near Jacks Mountain and Harbaugh Valley roads, according to a PennDOT spokesperson.
At least one person was killed in the wreck, which was first reported at 9:17 a.m., according to dispatch records.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene, but officials have not said how many people were involved or what may have caused the crash, according to PennDOT.
Route 16 remains closed in both directions, and there is no estimated time for reopening, the spokesperson said.
Drivers are urged to use caution in the area due to snow and wintry conditions, according to PennDOT.
No further information has been released at this time.
