The Weld County Coroner’s Office has identified the man shot and killed Wednesday afternoon by Greeley police near North Colorado Medical Center as 18-year-old Aden Alcide Jeannoutot.
The shooting happened at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, when a police officer pulled over a vehicle for a traffic stop near 16th Avenue and 21st Street, according to a 19th Judicial District news release .
The woman driving got out of the vehicle, but Jeannoutot, who officers knew to have a felony arrest warrant, remained in the passenger seat, the release states.
An officer told him to get out of the vehicle, but he instead reached toward a bag in his lap. The officer shot Jeannoutot after he ignored additional commands, officials said Wednesday night.
