BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WCTV) - A Bainbridge hospital has been officially designated as a Remote Treatment Stroke Center.
Memorial Hospital and Manor received the designation from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Remote stroke centers allow for hospitals in more rural areas to quickly assist stroke patients by connecting with stroke specialists via telehealth for real-time consultations.
“When it comes to stroke, time is tissue,” MHM said in a Facebook post.

According to a map of designated stroke centers from the Georgia Department of Public Health, the nearest primary stroke center in Georgia is in Thomasville.
The remote stroke center designation will help connect patients in Decatur County and surrounding areas with fast, high-quality care.
