Yankee Candle is facing yet another round of downsizing as its parent company, Newell Brands, announces sweeping global cuts and the closure of more than a dozen candle stores.

Newell Brands announced it will eliminate more than 900 professional and clerical jobs worldwide as part of a new “global productivity plan” aimed at boosting efficiency and reducing overhead.

The move marks the latest chapter in a multi-year restructuring effort that has repeatedly hit the Massachusetts operations of Yankee Candle — the Western Massachusetts-born brand that grew from a teen’s homemade gift into a national retail powerhouse.
