MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has announced the preliminary totals for both license sales and harvest totals for the 2025 gun deer season .
The nine-day season came to a close on Nov. 30.
The early numbers from this year’s hunt show that the number of deer hunters across the state decreased slightly from 2024 totals, the DNR said. As of 11:59 p.m. on closing day, 790,044 licenses were sold for deer hunting privileges (including gun, crossbow, archery, conservation patron and sports licenses) in the state. This is a 0.12% drop from last year’s totals.
Of those licenses, 550,611 were for gun privileges only.
