Late night has a lot to say about President Donald Trump's recent headlines.
The comedians took to their respective shows Monday, Dec. 1, after the Thanksgiving holiday, taking on Trump's controversial Truth Social post calling former Vice Presidential candidate and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz an ableist slur.
On "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Kimmel joked, "I wonder why he didn't get that Nobel Peace Prize," while on "The Daily Show," Jon Stewart laid into the president, calling the insult "nonsense."
"On Thanksgiving?!" Stewart yelled. "You know, the press corps had to spend the whole holiday weekend down at Mar-a-Lago listening to this brain ooze. And then they couldn't even go back home by themselves. They had to fly back with this nut and ask him if he wants to clarify any of the nonsense."
Stewart then played a clip of Trump speaking to the press after the post, doubling down on the insult and saying, "Yeah, I think there's something wrong with him."
"Something wrong with him? With him?" Stewart added, exasperated. "You were sitting with your family, Thanksgiving, belly full of turkey and pie, surrounded by the love of your extended crime family, but your initial instinct was to Truth a slur at Tim Walz?"
Stewart then questioned why Trump insulted Walz with a slur for mentally disabled people, meanwhile he "mysteriously" received an MRI scan. The president told the press that he had "no idea" what part of his body the MRI scanned, but "it wasn't the brain because I took a cognitive test and I aced it."
Looking dumbfounded into the camera, Stewart said: "That's not physically possible to have no idea. Would you say to the doctor, 'No, no, no, don't tell me. I want to find out at my MRI reveal party.' What is happening?"
He continued: "Were you not curious at all? When they laid you down in a tube for a half an hour to 45 minutes, you didn't want to know what they might be doing? Or did you just think to yourself, 'What a loud tanning bed'?"
On "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," the late-night comedian suggested Trump's confusion on what part of his body was scanned was telling.
"Trump says he will release MRI results, but doesn't know what part of his body was scanned," Colbert said. "Uh, here's a theory: Maybe the part that's broken is the part that's supposed to know."
After playing a clip of Trump telling press he "aced" his cognitive test, Colbert proceeded to mock the president. "I did so well on the cognitive, they put me in the extra credit tube," he said in a Trump parody voice.
On "Live," Kimmel commented on Trump telling press members they would be "incapable" of getting a "perfect mark" on the test like himself.
"Wow, that Melania is a lucky lady indeed," he added, before showing a photo of Trump in an awkward shot with his mouth open. "He looks fine to me. That was the moment just after his teeth fell into his omelette. Poor guy. He hasn't been the same since Jeffrey Epstein died."
