The first piece of coach Jon Sumrall's new staff at Florida appears to be falling into place.

According to a report from CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz on Tuesday, the Gators are set to hire longtime Kentucky defensive coordinator Brad White to the same role. White has been on the Wildcats' staff under Mark Stoops, who was fired Monday, since 2018 and has served as Stoops' defensive coordinator since 2019.

In his seven years as defensive coordinator, White has produced four top-25 defenses. He also brings NFL experience to the table as he was on the Indianapolis Colts staff from 2012-17.

White has connections with Sumrall as the two worked together on Stoops' Kentucky staff from 2019-21. In Sumrall's final season on staff in Lexington, he served as co-defensive coordinator alongside White.
