HAZELTON, W.Va. — Former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, who was serving a 45-year sentence after being convicted of conspiring to import tons of cocaine into the United States, was released from U.S. Penitentiary Hazelton in Preston County Monday night.
Sources reported his release to WAJR News just hours after he was pardoned by President Donald Trump. Trump said he pardoned the former Latin American leaders because he felt he was treated unfairly by the Biden administration.
Hernandez’s wife, Ana Garcia de Hernandez, thanked President Trump via social media shortly after the announcement was made.
