In late November, Generation Park welcomed a new seasonal addition—an outdoor ice skating arena—which will remain open until Jan. 4.

The big picture

Located at Redemption Square—250 Assay St., Houston—the rink is made of synthetic ice, or plastic panels, according to information on the Redemption Square website .

Per the website, the rink opened Nov. 24 and will be open for the remainder of the holiday season in accordance with the following schedule:

Dec. 4-5: 2-6 p.m.

Dec. 6-7: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

Dec. 8-12: 2-6 p.m.

Dec. 13-14: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

Dec. 15-19: 2-6 p.m.

Dec. 20-23: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

Dec. 24: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Dec. 25: 2-9 p.m.

Dec. 26-30: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

Dec. 31: 7 p.m.-midnight

Jan. 1-4: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
