Former San Francisco supervisor Carol Ruth Silver spoke at the annual vigil in the Castro November 27 in honor of gay supervisor Harvey Milk and mayor George Moscone, who were both assassinated that day in 1978. Silver, a straight ally, served alongside Milk on the board, she recalled during remarks at Harvey Milk Plaza. This year’s vigil, organized by the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club, took place on Thanksgiving, and the crowd was smaller than usual. But people paid tribute to the trailblazing politicians who were lost too soon.
