NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Two men were convicted by a federal jury on Nov. 25 in connection with the 2019 disappearance of 18-year-old Sunny Sramek of Trenton after an 11-day trial in Sioux City.

Floyd Coates, 44, of St. Francis, Kansas, and Dennis Lawson, 65, of Whiting, Iowa, were found guilty on multiple charges related to drug trafficking and obstruction of justice. The jury deliberated for about two hours before returning the verdict.

The drug operation

Evidence showed that in spring 2019, Coates operated a methamphetamine trafficking network that moved pounds of the drug from Colorado to Iowa for redistribution. Coates possessed firearms to protect his illegal operation.
