FAIRFIELD, Calif. —
A man was arrested after an officer witnessed him firing a gun in a Fairfield neighborhood on Monday, according to the police department.
Officers initially responded to a report of a disturbance just before 6:30 p.m. on Travion Court.
Fairfield police said an officer arrived and saw a man pull out a gun and fire several rounds while standing in the middle of the street. No one was struck by the gunfire, and it's unclear if it was targeted at anyone.
Fairfield police had advised residents to stay out of the area as they worked to track down the suspect.
Officials said the suspect then ran from the area. However, he was found by a California Highway Patrol helicopter hiding in a nearby field and was taken into custody.
