The Port Huron Police Department is asking people who live near the 1300 block of 18th Street to stay inside and call 911 if they see anything suspicious while they investigate "an alleged shooting."

The department also said in a social media post local schools have entered a shelter in place out of an abundance of caution.

"We want to emphasize: there is no known threat to any school," the statement posted about 1 p.m. said. "This step is simply precautionary while officers finish securing the area."
