Portland Mayor Keith Wilson on Tuesday announced his pick for a permanent city administrator, a position that wields substantial power and influence within the city’s new form of government.

Raymond Lee, the longtime city manager of Greeley, Colorado, emerged as Wilson’s choice among a trio of finalists vying to succeed Michael Jordan, who city leaders tapped earlier this year to temporarily helm Portland’s vast bureaucracy.

“As the mayor of a city on the rise, I knew Portland would need an innovative city administrator with a track record of success to unlock a new chapter of safety, innovation and shared prosperity,” Wilson said in a statement. “We’ve found that and more with Raymond Lee.”
