LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Orinoco, named for the river running between Venezuela and Colombia, is a Latin American in Lake Charles restaurant offering a conversation exchange for their customers who dine with them on Tuesdays.
Translator and Guatemalan native, Sheiny Use Marroquin, said that it’s one thing to learn the words and foods of another culture, but it’s an entirely different experience when you understand its origin.
“I know we have a lot of local people that love to come here and eat, but there are much more people that ask about where the food is from and how it’s made. I think it’s so important to at least know a little bit of words so that we can introduce these dishes to the people,” Marroquin said.
Their food is rich, not only in flavor, but in history.
