Riding Mountain National Park wardens have arrested an Elm Creek resident following a lengthy investigation into illegal hunting activity inside the protected area, Parks Canada confirmed this week.
According to officials, park wardens executed two search warrants on Nov. 2, 2025, resulting in the individual’s arrest and the seizure of multiple weapons, ammunition, hunting equipment and two all-terrain vehicles.

The individual now faces a series of charges under both the Canada National Parks Act and the Criminal Code, including hunting within a national park, unlawful possession of a firearm in a national park, operating an ATV in a restricted area and careless use of a firearm.
