Seattle restaurant Kabul, one of the first kitchens to showcase Afghan cuisine around Puget Sound, will close after more than 30 years in Wallingford.

Citing the high costs of food and labor, owner Wali Khairzada said Monday that his bistro will close as soon as Dec. 31. He told The Seattle Times that he doesn’t foresee more customers dining out nor the restaurant climate improving enough in 2026 to keep afloat.
