A Connecticut man was arrested after police say he sexually assaulted a door-to-door saleswoman inside his home this week.

Charlie Phan, 64, of South Windsor, faces charges of sexual assault, unlawful restraint, and disorderly conduct, police said.

South Windsor police were called to Phan's Main Street home on Monday night, Dec. 1, after a salesperson said he had touched them inappropriately and would not let them leave, authorities said.

The alleged victim told police Phan had invited them inside, where Phan kissed them and grabbed their inner thigh and would not let them leave, South Windsor police said. They were eventually able to escape.

The victim continued working for a time before they called the police to report the alleged assault.

Phan denied the attack to police, saying the salesperson had concocted the story because he refused to buy their product. He said he had been "nice" to the victim, something he regretted, authorities said.

Phan was released on a $5,000 bond. He will appear in court later this month.
