QUEBEC — Liberal Leader Pablo Rodriguez has expelled St-Laurent MNA Marwah Rizqy from the party caucus as the crisis in the provincial party continues to grow.
Until now, Rizqy had only been suspended from the party following her decision to fire her former chief of staff, Geneviève Hinse, a close associate of Rodriguez.
Rizq has not explained her decision to fire Hinse or her decision to not consult Rodriguez in advance.
But in a statement, the Liberals say Rizqy can’t continue to maintain her silence because it is hurting the party.
“In choosing to act alone and to place herself above the team, Marwah Rizqy has broken the line of confidence necessary to advance together,” Rodriguez said in the statement.
