WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Administration has expanded its recall of imported cookware found to leach dangerous levels of lead into food, adding nine additional products to a growing list first announced earlier this year.
, is the latest expansion by the agency and its state partners, after the initial recall in August. Officials warned consumers that certain aluminum, brass and alloy-based cookware, often marketed as Hindalium/Hindolium or Indalium/Indolium, contained “significant levels” of leachable lead.
According to the FDA, that contamination can make food unsafe to consume.
The agency said the newest additions are part of an ongoing investigation.
