WILLIAMSBURG — UGLY BABY, the cult-favorite Carroll Gardens Thai restaurant known for its incendiary, regional dishes, is making a comeback , according to Secret NYC. Chef Sirichai Sreparplarn and the original team have signed a lease at 364 Grand Street in Williamsburg, aiming for an early 2026 opening. The 2,500-square-foot space — formerly Emmy Squared — will feature a larger dining room, a full bar and a revamped menu offering what Sreparplarn calls “a new wild take” on the restaurant’s signature heat.
Ugly Baby closed in 2024 when the chef shifted to other projects, including a cookbook; its former Smith Street location now operates as Hungry Thirsty.
