After the optimism of last Monday's heroic victory at Old Trafford was punctured somewhat brutally by Saturday's 4-1 defeat at home to Newcastle , Everton are back in action against Bournemouth on the south coast this evening.

The Blues head to the Vitality Stadium in 14th place in the table, but such is the congested nature of this season's Premier League they are just one point behind their 11th placed hosts and only four behind Brighton, who are all way up in fifth.

David Moyes will be seeking a reaction from his players after the heavy defeat at Hill Dickinson Stadium last time out, but the Blues boss will again be without the services of midfielder Idrissa Gueye as he serves the second of a three-match suspension .
